The rainy and dark conditions made it a challenge to get a light and airy forest scene for Iris Arts. This short video shows the conditions on that dreary day, and the photos I made—one success and one failure.
Despite the somber light and steady rain in the dense forest, post-processing in Photoshop® helped lighten the scene and make it less dreary and scary. But it still feels too heavy and chaotic for patients in the healthcare environment, as described in the video. Photo: © Donald J. Rommes
This photograph was also taken under dark skies and steady rain, but there is a wide river flowing just beyond the alder trees and the open sky adds light to the scene. There is also better separation between the trees—something that lends a sense of space and airiness to the photograph. Photo: © Donald J. Rommes
